Council supports Parkland Tennis Centre court upgrade
Wodonga Council has passed a motion to support the Parkland Tennis Centre with $5000 in funding to upgrade four hard tennis courts.
The tennis centre, at Birallee Park, was not identified as a priority project in the development of master plans for Birallee Park and the Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.
The courts are located on council and Department of Education land.
The club developed a proposal in partnership with Wodonga Middle Years College which presently uses the council-maintained courts during school hours.
The council recognises that the project will increase usage of the area and improve amenity and community safety.
The council supported the funding on the basis that four courts be available for free public access when not in use by the school or Parkland Tennis Club and that the club be responsible for maintaining the developed courts.
It is subject to successful funding from Tennis Australia.
