Tender awarded for Thomas Mitchell Drive
The tender for the Thomas Mitchell Drive reconstruction was awarded to Excell Gray Bruni at the October council meeting.
It is proposed to complete the section of works in three stages to ensure the least impact on traffic. Please see the attached plan for details.
Stage one will be from Chapple St to Jack in the Box Creek, stage two will be the culvert works at Jack in the Box Creek and stage three will be from the creek to Wigg St.
Excell Gray Bruni have started preparation works and propose to start stage one of the reconstruction next Monday, November 2. This stage is expected, weather permitting, to be finished in December.
During this stage, there would be minimal traffic disruption with the service roads to be used as bypasses during this period.
Stages two and three will see traffic reduced to one lane under traffic control. Stage two is scheduled for January and stage three from February to April.
During stage one residents of Docking, Coleman and Gralen streets are encouraged to use the Lawrence St or other alternative entry points to their streets.
In stage three, residents in Wigg St, are also encouraged to use the Lawrence St entry.
The council will be advising the wider community of alternate routes during the works for those people who are not stopping in Thomas Mitchell Drive while reminding residents that businesses are open as usual.
With the good weather and a window of opportunity for the contractors to start work, we would like you to consider the above options and provide us with your feedback by Friday, October 30.
